The
ACT's Calvary Private Hospital is situated in bushland in Canberra's
north. This modern 89-bed private hospital comprises a Maternity Unit,
a Day Services Unit, a Medical and Surgical Unit and a Private Mental
Health Unit plus the Calvary Clinic specialist consulting suites.
The hospital is operated by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary,
an order founded to offer hope for the sick and dying. This sense of
hope provides a special atmosphere of peace and compassion that many
visitors and patients sense.
The extensive range of specialist in-patient care available includes
anaesthetics, Calvary at Home, cardiology, dental, ear, nose and throat.
Endocrinology, gastro-enterology, general medicine, general surgery,
gynaecology, head and neck surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology,
orthopaedics, plastics, respiratory, rheumatology, urology and vascular.
Oncology services are planned for the near future.The 17-bed maternity
unit comprises all single rooms, some with double beds so partners can
stay. For healthy mothers and babies, the unit supports rooming in and
a Private Midcall Service if they choose to leave hospital early. Vital
educational programs are also provided.
The Private Day Surgery Unit comprises state of the art theatres and
10 day only recovery beds for patients in need of minor procedures.The
modern 20-bed mental health facility, Hyson Green, offers single rooms
(some with ensuite) accommodation and a separately designed post natal
depression suite. There are also consulting rooms, dining and lounge
rooms, therapy rooms and recreational facilities.
